Vetiver Essential Oil

Why & how to use it

Vetiver, a member of the grass family, is grown for many reasons. Unlike other grasses, the root system of Vetiver grows down, making it ideal for helping to prevent erosion and providing soil stabilisation. Vetiver has a rich, exotic, complex aroma that is used extensively in perfumes. Due to Vetiver’s calming, grounding effect on the emotions, it is an ideal oil to use in massage therapy. It can also be rubbed on the feet before bedtime to promote a sense of relaxation.

In Ayurvedic medicine vetiver is known as the oil of tranquility!

One of my favourite things about Vetiver essential oil from doTERRA is that it is sourced from Haiti and is part of doTERRA’s Co-Impact Sourcing, which basically means the farmers & distillers and their families and communities benefit enormously. Check out this video if you want to see how a community is transformed (and what vetiver looks like!!)

😂💦WARNING Vetiver is a VERY thick essential oil, so you learn patience when you’re waiting for a drop to come out of the bottle… be patient, it’s worth it!!

Suggested ways to use Vetiver Essential Oil

🌿Use as a massage oil to calm emotions.

🤚Lovely on your skin – add a drop or 2 to your skin routine.

🛁Take a warm bath with a few drops of Vetiver essential oil for deep relaxation. Top it off by rubbed a drop of Vetiver with some moisturiser all over your body then hop into bed!

🌿Diffuse with other calming oils like lavender, Balance or Cedarwood to provide a sense of balance while calming emotions.

🌿Diffuse when you’re studying or trying to focus. Vetiver is found in both Intune (doTERRA’s focus blend) and the children’s blend, THINKER. Perhaps add 2 drops patchouli, 2 drops vetiver and 2 drops frankincense in the diffuser at your desk.

Ideas for those with thyroid issues

🧠When you have lots of thoughts running away with you, breath vetiver in deeply and rub on your temples.

😬If feeling irritable rub on your feet or the back of your neck. What us, irritable? 😂

🤚Lovely and soothing in a massage if your body feels like it needs some extra TLC – especially at night time. This is my personal favourite way to use Vetiver and is my go-to bedtime oil.
