Let’s Talk Thyroid Symptoms:

constipation + hashimotos

💩 No one really likes to talk about constipation! Me either.

It is however a very common symptom of Hashimoto’s.

Seems to go hand in hand with a slow metabolism… well underactive thyroid seems to be a slow everything, including a slow digestive tract. Sluggish. That’s often how our underactive thyroid systems are described. 

Tips:

🦠 Work on your gut health. Cut out typically inflammatory foods (gluten, grains, dairy, sugar) .. that seems to help many.

🥬 Lots of fruits & vegetables. Think fiber + prunes of course!

💚 Fermented foods and drinks might help with the gut health aspect.

💊 Digestive enzymes might help. As may slippery elm.

🚰 Drink plenty of water – this is what seems to help me the most. I like adding a drop of a citrus essential oil to my water too. 

💦 Essential oils like lemon, ginger and peppermint might help get things moving too – perhaps a drop in your water.

💆‍♂️ Relax… you don’t want to be ‘up-tight’! 

🩸 Get your thyroid bloods checked through your doctor. Perhaps you’ll need some medication or adjustment in medication.
